Full Dentures

Full dentures — also called complete dentures — replace all of the teeth in the upper arch, the lower arch, or both. They rest on the gum tissue and are held in place by suction and the natural contours of your mouth.

If you still have remaining teeth that need to be removed, we will discuss the timing of extractions and when your denture will be placed. In some cases, an immediate denture can be placed the same day as extractions so you are not without teeth during healing.

Full dentures are custom-made to fit your mouth and are designed to look natural. Over time, as the jawbone changes shape after tooth loss, dentures may need to be relined or replaced to maintain a proper fit.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are used when you still have some healthy natural teeth remaining. They fill in the gaps left by missing teeth and attach to your existing teeth using clasps or precision attachments for support.

Partial dentures serve both functional and aesthetic purposes — they restore your ability to chew and speak comfortably and prevent remaining teeth from shifting into the empty spaces.

  • Removable for easy cleaning
  • Custom-fitted to your existing teeth and gum tissue
  • Can replace multiple missing teeth in different areas of the mouth
  • May be an alternative to a fixed bridge in some situations

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures combine the convenience of a removable denture with the stability of dental implants. Two to four implants are placed in the jawbone, and the denture snaps onto them — providing a secure fit that traditional dentures cannot match.

Because the implants stimulate the jawbone, implant-supported dentures help slow the bone loss that typically follows tooth removal. They also tend to feel more comfortable and require less adhesive.

The implant posts are placed in-house by Dr. Eric Guirguis, DDS, MSD, our periodontist with more than 35 years of implant experience. Having the periodontist and restorative team in the same office simplifies your care.

What to Expect When Getting Dentures

Getting dentures is a process that typically takes place over several appointments. Here is a general overview:

  1. 1

    1. Consultation & Exam

We evaluate your remaining teeth, gum health, and bone structure. We discuss which type of denture fits your situation and take impressions of your mouth.

  2. 2

    2. Extractions (if needed)

If any remaining teeth need to be removed, this is done before or at the time of denture placement. Healing time is factored into your timeline.

  3. 3

    3. Custom Fabrication

Your denture is custom-made from impressions of your mouth. You may have a try-in appointment to check the fit and appearance before the final denture is completed.

  4. 4

    4. Fitting & Adjustments

Once your denture is ready, we fit it and make any necessary adjustments. Follow-up appointments are common as your mouth adapts.

  5. 5

    5. Ongoing Care

Regular check-ups allow us to monitor the fit of your denture and the health of your gum tissue and bone. Relining may be needed over time as your mouth changes.

Cost, Insurance & Financing

Denture costs vary depending on the type of denture, the number of arches being restored, and whether extractions or other preparatory work are needed. We provide a detailed cost estimate before treatment begins.

Many PPO dental plans and some Medicare Advantage plans cover a portion of denture costs. Our team will review your benefits before treatment so you know what your plan covers and what your out-of-pocket responsibility will be.

Financing options are available. Ask our front desk team about payment plan options when you call or visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of dentures are available at Largo Dental & Implant Center?

We offer full dentures (for patients missing all teeth in an arch), partial dentures (for patients who still have some natural teeth), and implant-supported dentures (anchored by dental implants for greater stability). Both removable and fixed options are available.

What is the difference between full and partial dentures?

Full dentures replace all teeth in the upper or lower arch. Partial dentures fill in gaps when some natural teeth remain — they attach to existing teeth for support and can be removed for cleaning.

What are implant-supported dentures?

Implant-supported dentures snap onto dental implants placed in the jawbone. They are more stable than traditional removable dentures, reducing slipping during eating and speaking. They can be removed for cleaning. Our in-house periodontist, Dr. Eric Guirguis, DDS, MSD, places the implants at our Largo office.

How long does it take to get dentures?

The timeline depends on the type of denture and whether any extractions or healing time are needed first. Traditional dentures typically require several appointments over a few weeks. Your treatment plan will include a clear timeline.

Will dentures affect how I eat and speak?

There is an adjustment period. Most patients adapt to eating and speaking with dentures within a few weeks. Starting with softer foods and practicing speaking aloud can help. Implant-supported dentures generally feel more stable during this adjustment.

How do I care for my dentures?

Remove and rinse dentures after eating. Brush them daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner — not regular toothpaste, which can be abrasive. Soak them overnight in water or a denture solution. Continue to brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth.

Does insurance cover dentures?

Many PPO dental plans and some Medicare Advantage plans cover a portion of denture costs. Coverage varies by plan. Our team will review your benefits before treatment begins so you know what to expect.

Do you offer financing for dentures?

Yes. Financing options are available. Ask our front desk team about payment plan options when you call or visit.
